icdPIX™ makes ICD lookup for physicians easy - our anatomical image driven technology allows you to select the relevant body part, and then drill down to the organ or tissue which has the problem to reach the third layer. This contains a series of easily understood buttons to represent the etiology or nature of the problem, including the familiar suspects from the differential diagnosis mnemonic ‘VINDICATUM’, plus some additional categories to break things down into more detail. Once one of these is selected, icdPIX™ will display a series of appropriate icd codes from which you can easily identify the appropriate item.
In the current business process, the diagnosis is reported by physicians as written text and it is left to the coders to identify the correct code. This was necessary because the method to identify diagnosis codes required time which physicians don't have. icdPIX™ enables doctors to identify correct ICD codes just with three clicks. Thus by incorporating the icdPIX™ application early in the business process where doctors can now select the codes, coding quality is improved and the step in the business process for coders to select codes can be eliminated.
icdPIX™ contains the icd-9 volume 1 codes for 2010, and will be on sale soon for as little as $19.95 for an annual license. It is available now as a free trial. The icd-10 codes will be available in icdPIX in 2011. Both icd-9 and icd-10 are available now in our free text based icd lookup.
Selection of each body part leads to a simplified anatomical image which allows selection of the appropriate organ or tissue. This is well represented on the right by the cross section of a limb. You don’t need complete anatomical accuracy to select a specific blood vessel, for example, in order to find a diagnosis code. The combination of lower leg + vascular + metabolic is sufficient to drill down to the icd code for a diagnosis like Diabetes with peripheral circulatory disorders.
The mapping of the icd codes to this three part combination of body part + tissue + cause or manifestation means that any search is going to result in a short list of targeted diagnosis codes which then makes it easy to select an appropriate icd code.
If you like, see if you can match the buttons on the screen below to the appropriate etiology or manifestation in the list at the bottom of the page. Don’t worry if some are not immediately obvious - all of the selectable images have rollover tooltips to set you straight in the event of uncertainty. Our intent is that once you have clarified the ‘meaning’ of a button, it will be easy to remember, and obvious, on the next use. If you have any suggestions for a better image, or an image for those few buttons where we have text, feel free to contact us.
